How to write a product description from real product facts
A useful listing explains why a buyer may care, while staying inside what the seller can verify. The goal is not to make every possible claim. It is to make the right claims clearly.
1. Start with a fact sheet, not marketing language

- Keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to 12 hours
- Leak-resistant lid and wide opening
- Dishwasher-safe lid and silicone carry loop
Facts not confirmed
No evidence that it is leakproof, BPA-free, suitable for carbonated drinks, or eligible for a particular delivery promise.
2. Turn verified features into buyer-focused copy
Customer-ready description
Carry cold water through a long commute or keep a warm drink close during an early start. This 750 ml stainless steel bottle is designed with a wide opening for easy filling and a silicone carry loop for everyday use. Its leak-resistant lid and insulated construction help keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours or hot for up to 12 hours.
The description uses only the facts supplied. It explains practical value without adding a health claim, an absolute guarantee, or an unsupported compatibility statement.
3. Keep claims that need proof out of the publishable copy
Claims to verify before publishing
- Is the product officially certified BPA-free?
- Can the lid be described as leakproof, rather than leak-resistant?
- Is it compatible with carbonated drinks?
- Are any delivery timelines approved for this selling channel?
A claim can be useful and still be inappropriate to publish before it is supported. Keeping it on a separate checklist prevents a polished draft from becoming an inaccurate listing.
4. Adapt the emphasis, not the facts, for each channel
A store page may lead with everyday use, while a marketplace listing may need a clearer title and structured product details. The underlying facts stay the same. Do not change the certainty of a claim just to match a channel's style.
